Three Questions I’d like to Learn to Answer in College

Three questions that I hope to work towards solving during my years in college:

1. What constitutes success? How can I achieve success?

Most people I ask tell me that success is defined differently by everyone. They often say that there are different types of success based on circumstances and situations. I would like to find my definition of success and figure out how to achieve my goal of being successful. I think that this may be the most difficult question to answer, but I certainly hope that I will one day find a definite answer for myself.

2. How will I know whether the career I choose is the right one or not?

This is a very important question because it relates to a very important part of my life; a part that will determine my income, my quality of life, and my health and well-being. Having  a good career is not only something that should help keep me financially stable, but should also keep me engaged. I am a firm believer that if one is doing something he loves, he will never experience a day of work, only many days of fulfillment and joy. I hope that I can have a career that makes me happy and that can help sustain my ideal type of lifestyle.

3. How can I make a difference (in my life, in other people’s lives, or in the world)?

This is a question that I find myself asking every day. I would really like to be an individual that works towards goals and progress. Truthfully, I am more interested in the little everyday improvements that I can make to my life, like drinking more water or sleeping just a little bit earlier, or to the lives of others, like holding the door open for someone. However, I would also like to make a lasting impact. One example of a lasting impact that I have made is the impact that I left on my English students in Taiwan. I hope that, through their experience in my English class, they have come to enjoy learning English and will continue to pursue English studies. I hope that I can continue to make impacts, such as this one, on others.
